Can't access web site / can't ping out

Post by vodka »

Hi,

I'm having an issue (not sure for how long). I'm running Cacti in a MS VM, have been for several years.
Recently I tried to log in to the gui via browser, and it's not working, however I can SSH.
I can ping the IP that Cacti is running on (CentOS)
However, when I log in to Cacti via root (VM screen), I cannot ping out at all.

I haven't changed anything, and other than the power going out and the VM getting killed (which has happened before without an issue), nothing's changed.

Is there anything I can check to troubleshoot? I'm not that well versed in Linux, but can somewhat navigate.

A bit more info...

I did a netstat -anp and I don't see httpd listed there at all

Furthermore, when I try service httpd start I get the following:

Starting httpd: httpd: apr_sockaddr_info_get() failed for cacti.localdomain
httpd: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName

So I'm not sure what's happened and why the service won't start anymore; when I noticed the web server wasn't responding and looked at the VM it had a bunch of mysql errors, so I just rebooted it (but didn't mark down the error/screen cap unfortunately)

Thank you!

---update

There were a few log files in gigabyte sizes, in VAR as well as in WWW which I removed and all is now working...well not all, seems my DNS isn't working on Cacti for some reason...
