Syslog plugin

Post by Kaktus »

Hi
I have installed syslog plugin, it is also enable on GUI but where I can define which routers should be monitored?
My intention is monitor based on "key words" for bunch of routers.

/usr/share/cacti/site/plugins/syslog$ ls
LICENSE database.php include syslog.css syslog_alerts.php syslog_fix_warning.php syslog_reports.php tip_centerwindow.js
README functions.php index.php syslog.php syslog_batch_transfer.php syslog_process.php syslog_upgrade.php tip_followscroll.js
config.php images setup.php syslog.sql syslog_counter.php syslog_removal.php template wz_tooltip.js

You don't define what is monitored. You have to setup your Cacti server to receive the syslogs from remote devices and insert those messages into the appropriate table. You then have to setup the remote device to forward messages to your Cacti server. All the GUI does is show you those messages and allow you to alert on them, etc..

Hi,
where are table created? I only see this on GUI (image):
and on var/log syslog only following are received:
[origin software="rsyslogd" swVersion="7.4.4" x-pid="14355" x-info="http://www.rsyslog.com"] rsyslogd was HUPed
Nov 8 06:30:01 CRON[23874]: (www-data) CMD (php --define suhosin.memory_limit=512M /usr/share/cacti/site/poller.php 2>&1 >/dev/null | if [ -f /usr/bin/ts ] ; then ts ; else tee ; fi >> /var/log/cacti/poller-error.log)
Nov 8 06:35:01 CRON[24080]: (www-data) CMD (php --define suhosin.memory_limit=512M /usr/share/cacti/site/poller.php 2>&1 >/dev/null | if [ -f /usr/bin/ts ] ; then ts ; else tee ; fi >> /var/log/cacti/poller-error.lo

I have created routers to send snmp traps to cacti, but on cacti side nothing happend.
