There's the bit in the manual at https://docs.cacti.net/manual:087:8_rrd ... ernal_rrds , which was meant for Cacti 0.8.7. There's also the HOWTO on the forums (which reference the above link). But they're ancient and not usable with the newer Cacti. Is there anything newer that I could follow?
I have a number of RRDs being generated using Collectd. I want to display them in the Cacti interface, preferably alongside the RRDs that are being generated by Cacti's poller. It seems like something that should be obvious, and I'd think there'd be no shortage of people wanting to do so, but there's really a lack of information.
The comments at https://github.com/Cacti/cacti/issues/998 almost sound like the Cacti devs are actively against the idea of external RRDs. Is that the case?
Any newer HOWTOs on externally-updated RRDs in Cacti 1.1.x?

You simply add them and the Data Source profile is 'None' or 'External'. They can then be used in Cacti. It's a bit more heavy lifting to create Graphs, you have to turn on Advanced Graph creation to make them one at a time.
