You could also describe the issue.
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.

HI Howie,

Hope you are doing great and work with new weathermap version going fine..
Can't wait to see weathermap for cacti 1.1. version.

Here are some of my issue with cacti 0.8.8h trying to run weathermap and ntop.

In ntop case:
I can see ntop tab. but when clicking on tab it says localhost refused to connect.
I can't see port 3000 server is listening on
roto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State User Inode PID/Program name
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:514 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 0 11246 1379/rsyslogd

tcp 0 0 ::1:25 :::* LISTEN 0 12365 1692/master

I have included following in my /include/config.php file:
$plugins = array();
$plugins[] = 'ntop';
$plugins[] = 'weathermap';
?>

Also under console -> Settings -> Misc
http://localhost:3000

For Weathermap:
I have downloaded weathermap plugins 0.97b
I can't see under console -> Plugin Management

Is the directory for weathermap named "weathermap"?

And to be clear - directly inside that directory is a file called 'setup.php'? That's what Cacti looks for.

Any reason why you didn't install 0.98? (that uses the newer style for installing plugins - no text file editing)

Thanks Howie,
I download new version and I can see tab now...
couple of questions:

1) In attached image I have root as owner for weathermap directory as well as for inside file does that need to be changed? (Img#1-1 and Img#1-2)

2) In image attached I have MISC weather map setting does that looks ok? (Img#2)

3) Also under graph I am not getting graph (image attached). (Img#3)

Ownership is fine for the weathermap directory. The output directory should be owned by the Cacti poller user (probably 'cacti'). If you plan to use the editor, the configs directory should be owned by your webserver user ('www-data' on debian/ubuntu).

Settings are fine.

No idea about your missing graphs - that's Cacti itself. Have a look for errors in the apache error.log and cacti.log - since you didn't read the manual about weathermap permissions, I am going to guess that you didn't set the ownership for rra during the cacti install either ;-)

Lolz i was expecting that coming on my way.

and followed that...
following snap shoot what I have now.
I am running centos 6.7 and my folder cacti owned my cacti so config directory also be owned by cacti

Cacti needs more permissions than that. It should have access to cache, log, resource, rra and scripts from both the website and the poller user

On 0.8.8 it's just rra and log, from memory. The resource, scripts and cache is for the installer to allow you to choose templates, and the realtime graphing in 1.x, isn't it?

Anyway, I was really just talking about broken graph images though - usually that's because the rrd file doesn't exist, which is because it couldn't be created. And in both cases, it is explained in the manual, and (for weathermap anyway) in the logs, if you make the log writable.

Yes, Resource/Scripts, should really only be writable if you are installing the system or installing a plugin or script server script etc then they should be read only. The rra folder definitely has to be read/writable or there will be no graphs period and log needs to be in order for things to be recorded.

I'll defer to your experience over the cache folder as I only used 0.8.8 for about 10 minutes before I decided it didn't work for me and used the latest version instead (before I started pestering you about the 1.x Weathermap ;-) )

Thanks guys...for your responses...
@netniV I do have cacti 1.1.6 all working and was easy to setup and everything ,, hope u r in agreement here..
But I wanted to try missing plugins like ntop and especially weathermap ... but cacti 0.8.8 is not that easy to setup....

@Howie and netniV

I have following ownserhip
- cacti has ownserhip fo rra folder.. (Img#1)
- For all plugins(including weathermap), cacti has ownsership (Img#2)
- cacti has ownership for all file in weathermap folder. (Img#3)
Note: For config folder, Howie you asked for webserver user to own directory... Since /var/www/cacti is owned by cacti (Img#4) user i assume that's my webserver user. I am using centos 6.7.
Ran following command:
[root@cacti-template www]# getent group cacti
cacti:x:1000:
[root@cacti-template www]# getent group users
users:x:100:
[root@cacti-template www]# getent group root
root:x:0:
[root@cacti-template www]# getent group www-data
[root@cacti-template www]# getent group apache
