Cacti installation Wizard unable to detect php modules

Post by eldawayaty »

Hi all;
I'm new to Cacti, and I was trying to install the latest version (1.1.5) on Oracle linux.
I followed the instructions mentioned in the installation online documents, 'till I reached the step in which you open your browser and type the URL (http://<HostName/IP>/cacti), and the installation wizard starts.

once I Accept GPL License Agreement and press Next, the next screen (attached screenshot to the post) shows up stating that I'm missing both posix and mbstring php modules.

the problem here is that I'm pretty sure that these modules are installed, but somehow the installation wizard unable to detect them preventing me from continuing the installation steps.

I verified the php modules installed by running php -m and the result was as following (in which you can see that both modules are installed):

[cacti@Cacti ~]$ php -m
[PHP Modules]
bz2
calendar
Core
ctype
curl
date
dom
ereg
exif
fileinfo
filter
ftp
gd
gettext
gmp

ldap
libxml
mbstring
mhash

mysqli
openssl

pcre
PDO
pdo_mysql
pdo_sqlite
Phar

sockets
SPL
sqlite3
standard
sysvmsg
sysvsem
sysvshm
tokenizer
wddx

any help with this will be appreciated.

I don't remember well related to what update or issue it was but I had to re-install some of those modules it fixed it. I'm pretty sure mbstring was 1 of those.

Also remember, some Linux flavors have 2 separate INI files for php. one for the CLI and one for apache while Centos/RHEL only uses one php.ini file.

If you want to enable a module, it needs to be in both ini files ...
