Is there an instruction for convert plugin to 1.x version ?

Is there an instruction for convert plugin to 1.x version ?
I.e. independent plugin to new version. Or may be two version of same plugin - one for 0.8 and one for 1.0 ?
This would allow us to find the difference ourselves.
