Hi,
at first i want to say hello to all in this forum (i'm new).
And now the question...
I have a cacti installation on CentOS 0.8.8a here at the administration site.
Now there is no or just a single VPN Connection to the monitoring site to get data of different devices, as QNAP's or Windows Servers, Linux Servers and so on.
How can i collect data with my cacti server from all this devices with a minimum change work with the connections (maybe ipsec vpn is the top i can change, other changes are not possible).
Is there a plugin or something?
An installation of a "grabber" on the monitoring site with ... ubuntu or centos is possible for me...
I hope i could describe my little problem as clear as possible.
with regards
mathias

Re: Monitor Remote Network via VPN/Single Port
You can install a Remote Poller (new with 1.0) at the remote site, then all it would need is access back to the MySQL port on the Main server (which can be done over a VPN if you like). You do any configuration on the Main server, it propagates all changes to the Remote server over MySQL (includes any file updates). The Remote Poller then polls any hosts assigned to it on the remote site, and ships the data back to the Main Poller.

Re: Monitor Remote Network via VPN/Single Port
Each remote device has it's own IP. Just open a VPN, and then set up each device. As long as the device is reachable and no ports are blocked (SNMP enabled), you should be able to get good data from any of them.
