Installating Cacti

Post by thomazp »

Code: Select all

The latest version available was downloaded. I extracted, but want instructions about the installation.
There wasn't install or config or ... there.
Thanks once more.

The documentation for cacti is cleverly hidden alright...theres no way anyone would EVER find it by clicking the "Documentation" button on the top of this very screen, and even LESS chance that theyd click the link marked 0.8.8 manual. right?

If anyone could ever figure out these incredibly difficult things, theres no way they would EVER think to look at the "Installation" link, which gives complete instructions for unix, linux and windows, right? are you that lazy?

NO I am not Lazy,
For the beggining I need this up and running here:
PHP 5.1+
MySQL 5.0+
RRDTool 1.0.49+, 1.4+ recommended
NET-SNMP 5.2+
Web Server that supports PHP

I have only the last one.
I couldn't install using
# yum install cacti
Returned with this:
# yum install cacti
Loaded plugins: product-id, rhnplugin, security, subscription-manager
This system is receiving updates from RHN Classic or RHN Satellite.
Setting up Install Process
http://yum.opennms.org/stable/common/re ... repomd.xml: [Errno 14] PYCURL ERRO
R 7 - "Failed to connect to 2604:a880:1:20::d6:7001: Network is unreachable"
Trying other mirror.
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: opennms-
repo-stable-common. Please verify its path and try again
Its very bad.
I downloaded, but don't have a script like setup/install .
I need a router real time analyzer, I am using mrtg , but this don't do in real time.
Thanks,

First, I would recommend updating your PHP, MySQL, and RRDTool versions to something that isn't so ancient. PHP 5.1 was End of Life back in 2006 I believe. If you those are the default versions that came with your OS install, then you should look into a newer version of the OS and just start fresh.

Second, you are having IPv6 issues. You need to follow the simple directions online to disable IPv6 via sysctl since you don't appear to be using it.

Here we don't have ipv6.
I tried each one to see where we have trouble.
In the first , I have this .
In guess I need to download them and install from local disk, not using yum, because of this network restrictions.

# yum install mysql-server
Loaded plugins: product-id, rhnplugin, security, subscription-manager
This system is receiving updates from RHN Classic or RHN Satellite.
Setting up Install Process
http://yum.opennms.org/stable/common/re ... repomd.xml: [Errno 14] PYCURL ERRO
R 7 - "Failed to connect to 2604:a880:1:20::d6:7001: Network is unreachable"

repo-stable-common. Please verify its path and try again

then why couldnt you find the documentation on your own instead of asking someone else to give it to you?

the system is telling you its not registered so register it. call redhat if you have problems thats what you pay for
I downloaded, but don't have a script like setup/install .
did you try reading the documentation, because it TELLS YOU how to install it. step by step. or do you expect people to type the commandss in for you?
I need a router real time analyzer, I am using mrtg , but this don't do in real time.
and cacti doesnt do it in real time either and never has. did you bother to read the documentation?

no its because you dont know what youre doing. has zero to do with ipv6, but everything to do with how you have configured yum and your satellite. its missing the proxy setting or is having a dns issue with your satellite. it even tells you this in the redhat documentation. your paying for suppor so why havent you used it or done or tried anything? are you helpless?

the cacti installation instructions are fantastically simple so installing from source should take you about 30 minutes if that.

"Failed to connect to 2604:a880:1:20::d6:7001: Network is unreachable"
This happens because DNS for the yum repo URL is returning a IPv6 address and your machine thinks you can use it because you don't have IPv6 disabled. Depending on your version of Redhat (I am assuming its really old) there are different things to do to disable IPv6 so that your machine will only use the IPv4 addresses from DNS.

thats what this joker has been told numerous times according to google. apparently hes wanting a different answer, or doesnt know how to fix things. and according to him this is rhel 7

doesnt matter, redhat can tell him how to set up proxy or fix his dns issue easily but he wont call. according to google (put in thomazp cacti or mrtg and have a good laugh)
hes used cacti since before it could graph
hes wanting it because it monitors in real time
he cant figure out how to get a cron job to work

basically he cant follow simple instructions, and doesnt know what hes doing.

I am running RH Enterprise Linux 6, 64 bits.
How can make yum not to search ipv6 adresses ?
It would be easier say, instead of making jokes since that don't serve to nobody.

really? you were told how several times or didnt you understand it? this is why people think youre lazy and stupid. either fix your dns or fix your yum configuration pick one. or call redhat since youre paying them to babysit you.

and if you dont want to do that, why cant you follow the instructions that someone else had to look up for you since you were too lazy to do it yourself? theyre simple to follow so install from source. you keep going on about doing yum and ipv6 and you cant understand the simple answers you get so install from soruce and be done

how many times do you need to be told? fix dns or set up yum to use the right proxy. is there a particular word youre having problems understanding? and why cant you install from source? you could have done that in the time it took you to keep begging for handouts and answers you wont ever undertsand. get someone else at your company to do this cause this is definitely too hard for you. and how come you cant call redhat support since your paying for it?
