Is there any guide for template creation, programatically?

Hi all,

I need to develop a custom Cacti template for a DBMS that displays some load info in a graph. I've looked for guide, tutorials, etc. but I haven't found anything. I've also tried to try to understand the process by reverse engineering, looking into already done templates for DBMSs, but I'm unable to understand.

Is there any guide or tutorial for template creation?
