Invalid Cacti Version Error Upgrading 0.8.8a to 0.8.8g

Post by ic247 »

I am attempting to upgrade Cacti from version 0.8.8a to 0.8.8g.

I downloaded the 8.8g zip, followed all instructions (including modifying config.php, when I open localhost/cacti I get directed to http://md-gc-cacti/cacti/install/index.php, after clicking on NEXT>> button, the following error is shown;
Error
Invalid Cacti version 0.8.8a, cannot upgrade to 0.8.8

I'm missing something quite basic here (yes, I'm a newbie...).
Please help. Thanks.

Thank you oneDot. As you spotted I did not download the 8.8g version.
In the top left of Cati home page at http://www.cacti.net home page, the 'Latest Files' and corresponding download links are;
cacti-0.8.8g.tar.gz... (http://www.cacti.net/downloads/cacti-0.8.8g.tar.gz)
cacti-0.8.8.zip... (http://www.cacti.net/downloads/cacti-0.8.8.zip)
My installation is on a windows server, so I used link "cacti-0.8.8.zip..."

I have downloaded 8.8g.tar and performed upgrade. All appears ok.
Seems strange to have the "cacti-0.8.8.zip" under "Latest Files" when its not actually the latest version.
Newbie trap...

Thanks again for response.

Would someone fix this link?

It is annoying that the page links to 8.8 and not 8.8g . I downloaded the wrong one and got into the same situation as above.
Operating System: Windows 7 Pro x64
Webserver: Apache 2.2.22
Cacti: .8.8G
Spine: .8.8A (Yes this is correct :-/, but I think I'm using CMD.PHP )
MySQL: 5.5.27 (x86)
PHP: 5.3.17
RRDTool (Cygwin or Win32 version): win32 1.4.5
Net-SNMP: 5.5
Cygwin (cygwin1.dll version): 1007.9.0.0
