Missing old data in graphs/rrds

Hi,

I've tried searching for users with similar experiences, but have so far failed, so I'm posting here.

All my current cacti graphs are missing data before the 20th of December last year. I _know_ cacti has been polling data from my devices long since before that, so I wonder why it's chopping of data likes this.

My rra settings in cacti are as follows:

Which according to my calculations should keep data in the yearly graph for well over a year (382 days).

The rrd file for the attached graph says it's first data sample is at December the 20th last year:

# rrdtool first --rraindex 7 /var/lib/cacti/rra/rit-d2-fw01_traffic_in_74.rrd
1450569600

# perl -e '$time = localtime(1450569600);print "$time\n"'
Sun Dec 20 01:00:00 2015

I restored the same rrd from this date, and ran rrdfirst on this as well:

# rrdtool first --rraindex 7 /tmp/restore/var/lib/cacti/rra/rit-d2-fw01_traffic_in_74.rrd
1447145280

# perl -e '$time = localtime(1447145280);print "$time\n"'
Tue Nov 10 09:48:00 2015

Does anyone know where I should look? Have I missed some setting for how large the rrd files can get?

No one else experiencing this? The problem persists, and now the data is missing from the beginning of January:

Even I am facing the same issue. For me data on graph before 2days is lost

You didn't cite your cacti version, but I can tell it's an 0.8.x variant. Some old versions of cacti, packaged by others, did something stupid and improperly defined the RRA configuration leading to graphs that would loose data after only a small period of time. Cacti 1.x has a better design when it comes to RRDfile structure. If you are not using it, you should be.
