Missing sub-interface information for a cisco 3640

Post by poperszky »

Stranger things have happened, but not to me. After a reboot of the router, cacti is no longer displaying new values (Historical data still shows) for logical sub-interfaces, only the main serial interfaces are reporting. I am using 0.6.8 and everything all other devices are responding fine. Where do I start trouble shooting this one?

Try an SNMP walk to see if the sub interfaces are being advertised from the router. I had a problem where cacti was not gathering all the interfaces leaving out the last few which happened to be the sub interfaces.

Code: Select all

snmpwalk <ip address> <snmp read comunity string>
Also, have you refreshed the interfaces in cacti?

Random.

SNMP indexes of serial subinterfaces may change after cisco router reboot. This does not happen too often however in case of ATM subinterfaces almost after every reboot.

To avoid this you can enter the following command on your router (IOS 12.2):
snmp-server ifindex persist
