My own query_ifWhatever - how to interface it with cacti

Post by wprzyb »

Hello ;)

Since mactrack do not want to work with me and my switches, i decided to make my own tool to make the graphs more recognizable and customizable for me - i wanted to make something which will add another custom dynamic field to the graphnames based on fdb and arp records. And learn something.

I manage couple of HP V1910 switches, i wrote a python script which connects the dots and associate mac addresses of hosts with ports on the switch - i have this data and i can manipulate them - but i don't know how should i form the output of the script in the matter of association the records with interfaces.

I want to simply have something like that: 10.0.0.1 Switch 1 - Broadcast - 1:1 - DE:AD:BE:EF:CA:FE, C0:DE:BA:BE:D0:0D (screw the length, i want it to be searchable)

Am i able to make my description macro simply like that? How should i make it work?

MacTrack works pretty good with HP V1910 switches. All what you need is script from this post
