argument for external script not used by poller

I just created my first python script for cacti which is extracting the amount of toner left in my HP 2600n using the printers own webpage.
The script is perfectly working but I am not able to get cacti using an argument when starting my script. poller is starting my script but without any arguments.
I found only one similar question in the forum but no answer yet.
I fixed the problem by including the ip address of the printer directly in the script but I am curious how the argument hand over is normally configured. Even checking for examples from other scripts does not give me a hint, so I am asking you.
