Converting 32 bit to 64 bit Interface counters 0.8.8b

Post by bartc »

Cheers Cacti users,

First of all I have to state that I am aware of the plugin fix64bit
http://docs.cacti.net/userplugin:fix64bit
but as you know it works for 0.8.7.X only

Furthermore I have discovered that there is a way to do that through database by replacing 32-bit OID under poller_item table arg1 with 64-bit OID but ...

1) Right after rebuilding poller these changes are being rolled back (old OID values are restored)
2) When I want to check what are "current interface graphs types" by going to /cacti/graphs_new.php?host_id=XXX where XXX is the ID of your device in cacti under Data Query [SNMP - Interface Statistics] still shows 32 bit counters are being used (interfaces are still greyed out only when graph type is "In/Out Bits").

So basically question is :

1. Is there a beeter way to convert 32 bit to 64 bit Interface counters without creating new RRD's ?
2. If not , then :
a) how to prevent rebuilding poller cache to revert changes
b) what needs to be changed to cause proper Graph Type being greyed out under Data Query [SNMP - Interface Statistics] under /cacti/graphs_new.php?host_id=XXX
