New counter that kill spikes

Post by Baroo »

Hi

Now I monitor traffic on my Internet connection with cacti, and when router restarts I have a huge spike on my graph. I can eliminate that setting up the maximum value on graph, but I still have flase (too big) max and averange values.
I think that this is a big disadventage. These values should be limited too, or there should be a new counter which will draw value "0" when the difference between new and last read from the source is below zero.

Thanks for your job.

You make mistake by setting maximum value on graph instead of on data source. If you set it here you'll never see a spike on your graphs.

Is there a reason why Cacti does not automatically populate the maximum bandwidth for an interface when snmp polling the device and adding a data source? It is a real pain going through and modifying every link with the appropriate bandwidth, 2Gbps for a 2 port gig etherchannel for example, or 1.536Mbps for a DS1.

Is there any easier/automated way to update the bandwidth values for all of my data sources?
