I have Cacti running smoothly and its pretty awesome for our purpose, but the devices I am monitoring are jumping IP addresses on a DHCP network..
Therefore every time the lease expires, Cacti generates a new graph for the same device.
Has anyone written any scripts to check new devices against previous ones to compare MAC addresses, and if they are the same associate the old data to the new device? Is this possible?
I thought MACTrack did this, but I think I'm misunderstanding the plugin.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Monitoring Clients running DHCP
This is exactly what http://docs.cacti.net/plugin:mactrack does -- when properly configured
| Scripts: Monitor processes | RFC1213 MIB | DOCSIS Stats | Dell PowerEdge | Speedfan | APC UPS | DOCSIS CMTS | 3ware | Motorola Canopy |
| Guides: Windows Install | [HOWTO] Debug Windows NTFS permission problems |
| Tools: Windows All-in-one Installer |
Re: Monitoring Clients running DHCP
Hmm.. alright, I will give it another try then.
Does it require a switch to tell cacti what IP addresses are assigned to which MAC addresses? I tried to configure it independent on the DHCP network and it never seems to poll the devices and find them. Apologies, I'm a bit of a noob with cacti.

Re: Monitoring Clients running DHCP
Yea, it does. There are a lot of helpful threads in the mactrack forum for getting started: http://forums.cacti.net/viewforum.php?f=15
