Using the syslog data

Post by squidie »

Hello,

I have installed Cacti 0.8.8b with the syslog plugin from http://docs.cacti.net/plugin:syslog using syslog-ng.

I am sending syslog data to the server but wanting to know from you guys if we can use this data for creating graphs and other management analysis that you can natively do with Cacti.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You would first have to figure out what types of data you want in the graphs? If its anything other then how many incoming messages, etc... it would require custom scripts to graph anything. Its a MySQL database, so you can query virtually anything out of it, it just depends on what you want.
