Need Help: CactiEz install with Syslog plugin issues
Hey everyone I'm extremely new to cacti and all things linux so I opted for the CactiEZ-v0.7 installation on a local server. Installation was fine and was able to get web console and successfully add 3560g cisco switch to snmp. Only thing is I'm having issues with syslog plugin. I issued logging host commands on the switch to my cacti server but syslog doesn't seem to be getting anything from the switch. I uninstalled and reinstalled syslog a couple of times through the web interface and still no success. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

First, research tcpdump, and make sure that you are receiving the traffic from the other device. We can debug further from there.

Thanks for help but was able to get syslog up and running. Did a clean install and followed the instructions on an earlier post below. Either way I appreciate your help.

Re: Need Help: CactiEz install with Syslog plugin issues
I got problem on used to have this plugin works, and disable/removed later, but maybe I did not removed it proper way, the poller still try to run it every poller cycle. Of cause I will get error message.
I tried to look at './include/config.php' and check few tables I feel may contain the settings. but no luck, did not find anything related.
If anyone knows where these command will be run by poller, please tell me.
Code: Select all
12/11/2014 06:53:02 PM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[1] ERROR: Empty result [127.0.0.1]: '/usr/bin/php -q /data/html/plugins/syslog/syslog_counter.php'
If anyone knows where these command will be run by poller, please tell me.
