Hi!
I am somewhat new to cacti and these forums.
Despite my effort, I have a very poor understanding of how Cacti works and its terminology. Can someone help me? I am not looking for someone to do the work for me, but rather I want to understand all of cacti's moving parts at a basic level.
Can you cacti experts please outline for me in layman's terms the steps by which Cacti gets from an OID to a graph? Please assume
This is what I have so far:
1. When poller fetches information from devices, Cacti stores that information in data sources (RRD files). Your first task is to define the structure of the data source by creating a data source template.
2. Apply your data source template to a data source. "
Once you have a templated data source, what is the next step that Cacti takes towards making those pretty graphs? And where do data queries fit into all of this?
I'd appreciate your assistance.
Thank you!
