Value not updating in custom graph

Post by m0j0 »

I'm not really sure where to start with this one. I've tried creating a custom graph template and data template to track SSL User Logins on a FortiGate firewall. I've got other graphs running on this same firewall (CPU, Memory, Sessions) and they're all working fine. My SSL User graph is getting a value which appears to correspond with what I'm seeing in the GUI and what I get when I manually get the OID from command line or from GetIF running on a different box. What I'm seeing, however, is I keep getting the same value in Cacti which just gives me a flat line unless I manually get the OID from snmpwalk or GetIF. If I do that, then the next Cacti update will get this new value and stay with that value unless I keep manually getting the data from a different source.

I've attached an example of what I'm talking about. You can see a long flat line at 113 for the past 24 hours. I just snmpwalked that OID from the same box which returned 95, and the next update from Cacti then shows 105 and the following update shows 95. I've got no idea what is the issue.

Thats certainly odd.

If you increase the cacti logging level to Medium or higher to see the actual values the SNMP query received, is it also staying the same?
Does your device per chance only update the metric when it gets a snmpget vs snmpwalk or similar?
Sure your manual snmp query is using the same OID that the Cacti script is using?

I've implemented a workaround to get my graphs working for now by run a task in the background that snmpwalks that OID. This is giving me an accurate graph. I'd have to stop that workaround to test your questions. The OID is definitely the same. I'll do some testing with my workaround disabled.
