Cacti SNMP Down Issues

Post by milne30 »

Hello all.

I have just recently installed cacti into my network on a linux centos machine. I added the cacti server to my windows and linux hosts along with my juniper, cisco and hp switches. Unfortunately i keep getting many (around 10+) SNMP down email alerts every hour - or there abouts, but yet if i try to access snmp to a device cacti has said is down it is actually accessible..... the host also pings. I don't know where i am going wrong. Is there some sort of setting i need to set? What is the recommended snmp timeout etc for instance so i can try and overcome this issue? I was previously using OpenNMS which did not have any issues with SNMP down alerts.... but i thought Cacti was the better solution ... ?

Many Thanks in advance.

Need more info. Log entries, screenshots of the device settings for a host that has shown down in the log, etc....
