Monitor multiple networks

Post by itdepartment »

As the subject states I would like to set my Cacti server to be able to monitor more than one network.

I have Cacti installed on a Ubuntu 12.04 server which is running as a container on a proxmox machine.

I added venet IPs for both networks I want monitoring for I have no problem adding devices from the primary IP but adding any device located on the secondary IPs network fails.

Has anyone set their Cacti up to monitor more than one network? What did you do to achieve this?

Does the cacti server have routes setup to tell it to use the secondary nic for those other networks? (Assuming its not on the same subnet as the secondary nic)

Really, you should give a bit more info, otherwise we are just wildly guessing at what the problem could be. (IPs of the Cacti server, IPs of the hosts, what routes are present on the Cacti server)

Thanks for the reply.

I will look into adding the routes you mentioned, I have not done this.

If I continue to have problems I'll followup.

Adding routes to the machine running the cacti server allowed me to add the device on the secondary network and monitor it successfully.

Thanks for the advice!
