Simple Brocade FC Switch Query

Post by mattcowger »

I couldn't find any Brocade monitoring XML's already written, so I slogged through and wrote one that monitors a brocade silkworm switch for frames and words on each port.

Confirmed working with my 3250 8 port switch, but should work fine with others from Brocade and HP (who rebrand the 3250 as the 2/8V).

Export from 0.8.6

Here are my templates

*** PLEASE NOTE THESE TEMPLATES WHERE WRITTEN IN A RUSH = Quick and dirty ***

Please do help me out if you find any errors, also some cosmetic changes would be good :-)

brocade_interfaces.xml should be in resource/snmp_queries

the rest should be imported from GUI.

Update:

You have to change each polling method to COUNTER instead of GAUGE, mu fault.

I will post a new template shortly.

Do anyone use this template?

Just setup a test brocade using it, changed the template slightly so it picked up host description for graph titles but so far looks good

Help required with the template

Post by sabey »

Hi

Thanks for the template, I import it in Cacti v0.8.6c and I have few issue.

1. I didn't find where to change the pooling method from GAUGE to COUNTER
2. After a put in place the graph, I have those error in the output of the poller.php:

OK u:0.05 s:0.12 r:74.04
ERROR: Duplicate DS name: swFCPortRxBadEofs
OK u:0.05 s:0.12 r:75.12
ERROR: Duplicate DS name: swFCPortRxBadEofs
OK u:0.05 s:0.12 r:76.19
ERROR: Duplicate DS name: swFCPortRxBadEofs
OK u:0.05 s:0.12 r:77.29
ERROR: opening '/home/bb/bb/1.0.3/www/cacti-0.8.6c/rra/dvsan7e1_swfcporttxwords_298.rrd': No such file or directory
OK u:0.05 s:0.13 r:77.29
ERROR: Duplicate DS name: swFCPortRxBadEofs

Can someone help me with that ? Do you have an update version of the templace that may fix that ?

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi.

1)

Under 'Data Templates', select Brocade FC data-template.

At the middle of the page (I'm using 1280x1024) there are 12 polling options beginning with swFCPortRxBadEofs, Each one of them have a "Data Source Type" stanza with a scroll-list on where GAUGE is selected, change this to COUNTER and dont forget to save on each item.

The new template will be posted shortly but I dont think it will help you with the issue you've got.

It seems to me that you've imported the template twize or something. Cant really figure out why - search for the error message on this forum...
