SOLVED: Cacti not creating RRD

Post by Kenny »

Being able to read is a great thing, understanding the thing you've read is another.
The solution was there all along before I posted my question (and I've not read topic http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=4820 good enough), but I haven't realised it until know...

P.S. Just the fun of it, below is my original post:

Hi,

After the creation of a datasource, the associated rrd-file isn't created. At first I thought it was a filesystem-issue, but that's not the problem.
When looking into the DEBUG-log of one poller-run, I saw this:

Code: Select all

10/13/2004 01:48:11 PM - POLLER: Poller[0] CACTI2RRD: /usr/local/bin/rrdtool create /data/www/cacti-0.8.6b/rra/devicename_traffic_in_544.rrd --step 300 DS:traffic_in:COUNTER:600:0:100000000 DS:traffic_out:COUNTER:600:0:100000000 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:600 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:6:700 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:24:775 RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:288:797 RRA:MAX:0.5:1:600 RRA:MAX:0.5:6:700 RRA:MAX:0.5:24:775 RRA:MAX:0.5:288:797
After seeing this, I tried to create the rrd manually by copy/pasting the creation-string, and got this:

Code: Select all

ERROR: Duplicate DS name: traffic_out
Is there a way to correct this? When I leave the duplicate entries out of this command, everything works fine and the rrd is created correctly.

Has anyone seen this behaviour before or does anyone know the solution for this problem?

Cacti runs quite :D on a Sun Ultra10 with Solaris 8...
