if it is possible, SmokePing is very nice utility and cacti hasn't SmokePings cool alert system

We have planned integrating simple host up/down smtp alerting in 0.8.8. Is not too much to develop, just need time and a completed design.

I don't have a clue as to how to create the CDEF's for the Smokeping output by the way. Ian might be able to help.

smokeping integration! that'd be great.. the 'cdef' or whatever was used to create the graph is probably in that smokeping.cgi that is executed to generate the graph on the fly.. i guess..? :roll: but i too have no idea... smokeping integration would be awesome though

in my early todo list is implementation of SmokePing for our NOC team, then (I hope so) I'll have some time to try to implement these two tools, if I'll be successfull I'll share it of course :)
