Graphs stop showing and host drop down list is empty

Post by jwhitaker »

I have an issue where I've added a new host and some new interfaces to monitor on Cacti 0.8.7i. This installation was done fresh recently on CentOS 5 32 bit and was graphing data for a couple of hosts just fine. Now, only a broken icon link shows for any graph, and I notice that on the Graph Management page, the drop down list for hosts has only "any" or "none" and no longer lists any of the hosts to choose from. Same on the Graphs tab where "any" is the only option.

In the past, we had 0.8.7 through several versions and graphed lots of data on this same server. We upgraded to 0.8.8b and encountered this issue. Thinking that it was related to 0.8.8, and wanting to redo many of the devices that we watch anyway, we dropped back down to 0.8.7i and did a fresh install, new database, etc.

RRD files are there and permissions are OK, the poller log in debug mode shows no errors; all was working for three hosts and maybe 40 interfaces, then we added another device and it stopped working. When you click the Graphs tab which defaults to tree view, you get what appears to be an incompletely rendered page and see this error in the httpd error_log:

PHP Notice: Undefined index: action in /var/www/html/cacti/graph_view.php on line 74, referer: http://cacti.transy.edu/cacti/graph_view.php

In list view, you see "Showing Rows 1 to 0 of 0" and the drop down lists for hosts only has "any".

Anyone seen anything similar to this? In the past, we have had way more devices and interfaces being graphed, so I don't suspect that it is a load issue. Thanks.

Two for two this week on dumb problems. This issue was caused by "deny" permissions on the graphs for new users that I had created.
