I am building a replacement Cacti server.
The original is Cacti-0.8.7a on CentOS-4
New is Cacti-0.8.8b on Ubuntu Server 12.04
I looked at latest Cacti-EZ to stay with CentOS, but I could never get a working iso disc, so that path is abandoned.
After trying to force the install of PIA to my system I finally figured out how to get 0.8.8b from ppa:paul-climbing/cacti.
Now I get the following message:
Syntax error on line 6 of /etc/apache2/conf.d/cacti.conf:
Invalid command '<IfVersion', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not incl
uded in the server configuration
Action 'configtest' failed.
The Apache error log may have more information.
...fail!
I have attached a snip of the screen which makes me think the file is empty.
Please help
empty cacti.conf file

I only have 1st link of my sig. But I don't know whether this is too detailed/specific.
And please don't think that I dislike beginners.
Simply tell me, what you're missing or don't understand to help improving the docs.
You may want to scan it first (and perhaps only the first chapter) and read only those parts that apply to your exact problem.

Re: empty cacti.conf file
28 bytes is not exactly empty (then there would be no syntax error) but it is most likely not OK. How was that file created and/or edited?cliffstokes wrote:I have attached a snip of the screen which makes me think the file is empty.
As you are using my packaging efforts, I believe the contents of that file should be like here.
