Email issues

I have scoured Google et al for an answer to no avail and I'm starting to lose the will to type.

I have a Cacti install that is working without error, I recently installed 'setting' and 'thold' plugins.

Under settings for Mail/DNS I have specified valid SMTP setting and verifies these with a test email, this is delivered without issue.

Under the Notification Lists I have created a user group with valid email addresses, associated this with my test hosts and specified the same email addresses under the Thresholds section of Cacti.

My syslog is showing:

Which I am not sure if this is a red herring, I have specified a valid mail address and set it to use SMTP with working details.

Why would thold be trying to send emails username@ rather than the specified email address?

Ok so I have identified that:

Is a red herring and was an unrelated Cron job causing spurious emails.

I am unable to see a way to debug direct SMTP connections from thold/cacti. I have enabled the highest level of debug and pushed all data to my syslog server with no relevant SMTP output.

Hi there! maybe it help a little..

I was able to send and receive test message through GMAIL (PHP Mail and SMTP). But alerts or warnigs doesn't arrive
I don't know why this happens but I've lose a day to figure out that I can't do my alert or warning notifications with gmail.

When I tryed to use another mail system (without TLS) I was able to receive alert message only throuth SMTP.

p.s. My gmail debug log from cacti seems similar with yours. triggers work, but gmail "blocks" message.

p.p.p.s.. No testing with sendmail were done, because my system doent't have it installed.

Sorry I tried with ssl://smtp.gmail.com in 465 and it work using SMTP.

Hi there, I'm having exactly the same issue where the Test email is working 100% but any THOLD related emails are MIA.

cacti 0.8.8b
thold 0.5
settings 0.71

I'm also trying to send using a googlle account but I don't think that is a problem because I have another instance of older thold running on a different machine with the same settings and that one is working.

Any ideas?

This was a gmail spam filtering issue. Fixed now.
