Definitive process for Cacti distributed?

Post by sskillin »

Hello,
Cacti and its plugins are excellent, and I'd like to replace our current solution with Cacti completely. Our current solution uses probes (collectors) at our client sites, and they report to our central server using port 443, which makes it by our clients' firewalls.
I've read a lot of posts about reference architectures for Cacti being used in this fashion, but I have not found a "cookbook" for how to set this up, step by step. Can anyone recommend a tried and validated process for setting up Cacti in this fashion, using remote pollers that report to a central server using an encrypted path?

Thanks,

There has been the Multipoller plugin, which may fit your needs (untested)
