Changing a Data Template's Data Source Item Type

Have a weird looking graph from a template I imported. Traced it back to the use of a GAUGE instead of a COUNTER. I changed the DS Item Type from GAUGE to COUNTER, but the graphs are still generating correctly.

What's the proper way to get my device to "know" about the change I made in the template? Do I need to delete the RRD file?

Was able to use rrdtool dump and import to fix my issue.
