snmp.conf confusion

Post by phiberoptik26k »

hey guys thanks to you all that helped me out on my last question. I just started to search around on the forums for stuff that would catch my attention and i found a post showing how to allow you to type in the text oid instead of the numerical oid in your scripts. to do this you needed to modify snmp.conf. i have my snmp.conf file located in /usr/share/snmp. my question is even after i set the following:

mibdirs +/usr/share/snmp/mibs/cisco/v1:/usr/share/snmp/mibs/cisco/v2

and

mibs +/usr/share/snmp/mibs/cisco/v2/CISCO-MEMORY-POOL-MIB.my

doing an snmpwalk

snmpwalk -v1 -c public pixfirewall

it still only queries using MIB-2. how can i make it walk the cisco mib i included without typeing

snmpwalk -v1 -c public pixfirewall .cisco

to query all of the OIDS under cisco?
also do i have my syntax and format correct for mibdirs and mibs? thanks for checking!

-mike :-?
