Cacti project dead? -> Cacti 089 early alpha available!
Hi,
Is the cacti project still alive? Latest news on homepage is from more then a year ago. I heard rumors about cacti 1.0, but is that ever going to happen?
Regards, John

x2
The developement seems to be slowed down...
Cacti IRC channel on freenode is also a join/part dead channel.
Sad to see this, Cacti is a really great/useful thing.

Re: Cacti project dead?
Updated to the homepage are slow Just ignore the month/years stated there.
They are working on the 0.8.9 branch with the last commit being 11 days ago:
http://svn.cacti.net/viewvc/cacti/branc ... te#dirlist
Plugin development and updates are still frequent.
I'm sure that the team is focusing on high code quality for each version as they had a big issue some versions ago.
Based on the fact that most/all of the developers do it in their free time, it's not a shame that development takes time.

I'm sorry for the mayhem, but the guys in charge for the web server are quite busy lately with their usual business, so the pages did not get updated as requiredCybex wrote:Hi,

Re: Cacti project dead?
Correct and not correct. 089 is feature complete but not tested. We currently lack ressources for organizing testing, as there is a significant feature set that we have added since long, now.hid3nax wrote:x2

Correct - personally I never used thatCacti IRC channel on freenode is also a join/part dead channel.
As we still believe, that it IS still useful and is used WIDELY, we hope not to worry people too much.Sad to see this, Cacti is a really great/useful thing.
From our standpoint, many features are now available as plugins. This enables people to use that stuff they personally are interested in without us having to integrate every line of code. That's dead useful, IMHO

Re: Cacti project dead?
And this was due to my vacancies only. Still have a lot in queue - mostly bug fixes. Really would appreciate help on testing ...phalek wrote:They are working on the 0.8.9 branch with the last commit being 11 days ago:

Re: Cacti project dead?
gandalf why don't you create a beta / testing team for cacti beta testing?
So all users that have some time and will to test new releases will help you out.
Also you will get easily feedback from current installation migration and problems that can be easily found / fixed

Re: Cacti project dead?
That was indeed the last idea I figured out before I started vacancies (with a group of young children).
This may happen as a next move for 089 to get that out. Still, a lot of debugging code is in there, but function-wise, most should be in.
I was thinking about sth like a weekly build, posted to the announcement forum. It would dramatically speed things up, if anyone would volunteer in maintaining such a beta phase. In this case, I would be able to focus on code an bug fixes. The medium in question would be our bug tracker.
How does this sound?

Re: Cacti project dead? -> Cacti 089 early alpha available!
Hi,
Svn (http://svn.cacti.net/viewvc/cacti/) has not changed for almost six months ...
The roadmap (http://www.cacti.net/roadmap.php) is definitely out of date: "More information coming before the end of 2013!"
Cacti now seems completely stopped... right ?
I am truly very sad...
Greetings,
Fabrice
