There are some small things I had to fix for installation, and which could be improved in following versions:
- the path to the cacti scripts is hard-coded in include/cmd_functions.php and SQL (/var/www/...)
- the scripts/sql.pl-script uses -uroot -pxxxx to issue a MySQL "status" command - it could use the cacti database user configured in include/config.php to do that (you wouldn't need to change that in the script)

I installed it on a SuSE 7.3 and it uses /usr/local/httpd/htdocs as DocumentRoot.
When the other problem is fixed (SwapCached-thing), I'll make an RPM out of it.

Thanks for the suggestions. These are the kind of things I want to improve for the next version of cacti. I will make sure to add those changes and more so installing cacti will be a much more pleasant experience in the future.
