Addon or Plugin for CLI

Post by djshubi »

Hi,

Could you tell me if there is any addon or plugin which i can utilize my COM port and send commands and receive feedbacks which the Cacti will interpret into a graph?

the issue is, i have an equipment which has only Serial interface with specific CLI syntax and doesnt have any SNMP interface.
the CLI can be polled every few Ms without an issue.

Thank you in advance,
Eyal Cohen.

You could built a script using expect ( see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expect ) which executes the commands and returns the data. From there you can go and built the required "Data Input Method" and Graphs.

Hey, Thanks for the quick response.

The script part i will try to manage i saw several examples on the web so i think its the "easy" part.
what did you meant with the "Data Input Method" do you have any example for such so i will move on from there?

and in general, how to i incorporate everything into the Cacti (im a newbie with related to cacti plugins and addons), thanks again.

Eyal.
