Hello all,
i am using cacti (vers.0.8.8a) at one of my customers to graph the Bandwidth utilization on the interfaces of nearly 100 devices. All are cisco devices (Routers/Switches/Firewalls), some being pooled in SNMPv2c, some in SNMPv3. One of them is giving problems: the queries always time out. Giving a closer look, we can see the queries from cacti and the responses from the agent. Everything is corrrect appart from the fact that the answer to the initial discovery packet from cacti is aparently ignored by cacti, so the get request is sent with a different "msgAuthoritativeEngineBoots" and "msgAuthoritativeEngineTime". This is then answered with an SNMP report (OID 1.3.6.1.6.3.15.1.1.2.0) with again the correct parsameters for "msgAuthoritativeEngineBoots" and "msgAuthoritativeEngineTime", which is ignored again. If i do the "Get" command manually everything works normally. CACTI IS USING NET-SNMP v5. Has anyone an idea about this issue and how to solve it?
Thanks in advance,
Fernando

Re: Cacti Ignoring msgAuthoritativeEngineTime
Have you found any solution ? I have the same problem here with SNMPv3.
Using here Debian Squeeze (+latest updates) with Cacti 8.8, php5-snmp 5.3.3-7+squeeze13
Any idea ?

Re: Cacti Ignoring msgAuthoritativeEngineTime
The problem is related with php5-snmp version in debian squeeze. When I had removed it, the graphs worked.
Anyway I need this package in my system, so is any way to force Cacti to use snmpget instead php funtion?

- what is the problem with php5-snmp? On my system, albeit Debian Wheezy, it works. And I haven't had much other complains
- In the settings, you can choose which snmp to use (I don't know exactly what it does, but trying doesn't hurt). Does choosing the other setting help for you?
