install rrdtool for cacti... how does one do that..?

Post by sproket90 »

i just built redhat 9 box. have all the dependencies installed. i installed rrdtool-1.0.49 per instructions on rrdtool website.

sh configure
make
make install

this results in a /usr/local/rrdtool-1.0.49/bin
directory for rrd

now i try to install cacti..
[root@localhost cacti]# rpm -i cacti-0.8.6.rh9.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
rrdtool is needed by cacti-0.8.6-1
[root@localhost cacti]#

Please help..? looks to me rrdtool is in wrong directory?

Thanks for any help!!!

:D

nevermind... I figured it out... I didn't use the redhat rpm.. i just waded thru all the little things..manual install of all the various dependecies(sp?) i am somewhat of a linux noob...

i am running redhat 9, base install nothing special.
mysql 3.23
php 4.2.2

cacti 0.8.6 , i tried 0.8.6a but had issues, but that it probably due to mysql and php levels.

CACTI ROCKS...!!!!

Thanks for the excellent software...
