no network interface statistics

Post by jejeman »

Hello,

I successfully installed cacti 0.8.8a on a centos 6.3 server.
I started to monitor my server by using the host template named 'Local Linux Machine'
I can graph with no problem Memory, load average, process, users and partitions mounted but I can not graph network interface statistics...
Can you help me ?

Thank you.

Turn on SNMP on your server. Change the local device so it uses SNMP.

Thank you for your answer.
The service snmp working fine, and it is enabled on my device configuration.
When I tried a verbose query on my host, I have the answer :

Code: Select all

Data Query Debug Information
+ Running data query [1].
+ Found type = '3' [SNMP Query].
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti-0.8.8a/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ XML file parsed ok.
+ Executing SNMP get for num of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.1.0' Index Count:
+ Executing SNMP walk for list of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.1' Index Count: 0
+ No SNMP data returned
Why ?
Thank you

Try querying your linux server from the command line.

OK, now it works !
I found this article : http://asmetanin.wordpress.com/2011/12/ ... s-traffic/ about cacti on fedora
And at the end of the article, it wrote :

Code: Select all

By default snmpd.conf allows only viewing of system object in MIB -II subtree. To include interfaces we need to allow viewing of one level up. We need to edit /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf and change

“systemview included .1.3.6.1.2.1.1“

to

“systemview included .1.3.6.1.2.1“
So I changed my snmpd.conf and now, I can see network interface...
Tahnk you !
