New install on win 7

Post by bonj87 »

ok ..
i got cati , php (5.4, and it got installed to c:\program files.....), and cati
i can load up cacti.. log in.. i created a device, setup a NIC to watch..
i ran C:\php\php.exe D:\IIS\wwwroot\cacti\poller.php and i get errors about a bunch of MIBs that are missing..
so im trying to figure that out.. i run the poller.php a few times, and i get data in the graph.. BUT..
1) there is no legend in the graph.. so i got a graph with lines, but NO text in the graph..
2) i go to plugins.. No Plug Ins installed.. i have the latest version of cacti.. im pretty sure i screwed the pooch some place, but i need help figuring out what i did wrong.

1) did you follow the installation guide in http://docs.cacti.net/ ?
2) c:\program files\ for php, rrdtool, or spine will not work as cacti doesnt like spaces in the path, even with the 8.3 legacy name. stick with the root folders per the install guide.
3) followed http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11747 yet?

yeah i did. but i was having issue with the IIS settings.. so i did a google search and found an installer that fixed everything for me.. only bad thing is it put PHP5.4 in the c:\program files section.
the font issue i fixed, the line to the font itself was missing.. weird.

now i can graph just about everything.. except windows hosts.. kinda
its pointing to the program files for php.exe.. but if i point it to c:\php, where a slightly older version of PHP is, i can then see all the drives in a given windows host, etc.. setup those graphs, and they work, but all other graphs fail.. i set it back to the program files dir, and THEY all work.. but i have to reset it to setup a new windows host graph.

im SURE i fubar'd something in my setup.. but IIS7.5 is a bit more complicated for the setup.

Link? There is only one cacti installer I'm aware of, http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14946 and it installs PHP to C:\PHP\. Don't use php 5.4 with cacti yet either.

Sounds like you already had php installed before using the installer, which is the cause for the problems. The cacti installer merely invokes the PHP installer, which should configure IIS/Apache automatically. Sounds like this did not occur properly. time to follow the install guide and manually validate the php/iis portions were done properly.

my c:\php\php.exe is v 5.2
my C:\Program Files (x86)\iis express\PHP\v5.4 is obviously 5.4

now, 5.2 lets me see everything, EXCEPT things like windows disk partitions, but ONLY for setting up those graphs..
i point it to the 5.5, and it sees them, lets me set it up, but breaks the rest.
i change it back to 5.2, ALL graphs work.
I hear you about not using 5.4, but after i used the MS "iis express" installer for mysql, php, etc.. CACTI actually began working and was graphing .. except the above.. i tried for two days to get php5.2 to work properly but came up short.. plus the issues with IIS on win 7.. its verion 7.5 as it turns out, not 7.0, so some of the MS tools for setting up the sections of IIS, are not easy to find..
mysql is also v 5.6
