Hi,
We are wondering about how Cacti display INCOMING and OUTGOING Traffic in the daily 5 minute AVG graphs versus how it displays data for the same things when you "zoom in" with the magnifying glass.
Attaching two images to this post. One is the daily graph and one is the same graph but zoomed in.
Notice that the zoom in graph has a peak of 456 Megabits/second of Incoming Traffic. The daily summary graph for the same node/same interface only shows a MAX of 77 Megabits/second.....
Why is this? Is this because of the time period being different in the graph? I would think the Daily Summary graph would show the MAX as 456 Megabits...
If anyone could please shed some light on this we would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks,
jg

Re: Cacti Time Resolution in Graphs
graphing is performed by RRDTool. All of your questions can be answered by reading up how it functions, consolidation, averaging, etc. http://docs.cacti.net/manual:088:8_rrdtool is a good starting point.
