Error when edit Data source : Validation Error on field

Hi...
I have some question, after created new graph, i try to edit manually data sources name, but error message appear when i save it: "Error: Save Failed: Field Input Error (Check Red Fields)"
Then I crosscheck in cacti.log, i found this message :Validation error on field rrd maximum
I know, we should not editing manually data sources. But I really need answer about this, how can rrd_maximum caused some error, I only change the data name
Please kindly help

Note: Using cacti 0.8.8a @ Ubuntu 12.10 Server Edition 64bit

This cacti version should log the exact error to cacti.log (well, to be honest: for this feature to be active, you must permit your httpd to be able to write to cacti.log). Unfortunately, your images are not shown (I fear this is a result of a tight anti-spam policy)

and voila.... no problem to edit data source many many time. but sadly if I didn't use query_ifSpeed for rrd_maximum the maximum counter will be not right.

Please see "System Utilities -> View SNMP Cache" and search for the host/interface/ifSpeed value.
I fear, that they are absent.
In this case, please
1. perform a reindex of that data query by pressing the green circle next to the Data Query on the host edit screen - retry
2. from cli: perform an snmpwalk against that host for table "interface" and watch out, whether ifSpeed is reported - better post the whole output (at least the ifSpeed part)

Well, the image does not show a data template but the Data Query.
In fact |query_ifSpeed| is used by the official traffic data template. But that's a bit tricky. So I need to know as exact as possible how you changed that data template (copy and change, create new from scratch or whatever); best is to post screenshots of that template

Sorry for late response. I'm create new data template :
Data Queries > SNMP Network Interfaces > Add ...
Basically same with "In/Out Bits (64-bit Counter)" but without |query_ifSpeed|

Ok, let me try to sum up:

- You are using a Data Query for Interface Traffic
- this is linked to the default data template for interface traffic
- you are trying to modify a Data Source, which has been created for that very Data Query

Well, this should work to a specific extend. The options are restricted by the governing Data Query, e.g. when changing the title, on next renaming event the title will again be overwritten by the Data Query "Suggested Names" section.

So my next answer is twofold:
1. Please explain, which field you want to change to make sure the change is permanent
2. Yes, the error should not occur, even if a field is changed that will be governed by the Data Query. For this issue, please open a bug report and put everything in
