Nectar - send reports every hour
Greetings,
it is possible to send reports from Nectar every hour? It looks like I can only setup automatic reports once a day but there are variable should allow this every hour?
Can it be solved by Report Offset or Number of Intervals variables?
Nectar 0.30 / cannot be updated atm.
Additional question: if an upgrade is performed what about recent reports? Will i find them after upgrade or do i have to backup them somehow and then import? We have 44 running every day.
Thx in advance

Re: Nectar - send reports every hour
I only was under the impression, that once a day would be enough.
There's no technical reason to have such a restriction.
You may enter a feature request at http://bugs.cacti.net against the nectar plugin - providing the code for this feature will increase the time-to-market to a great extend (waving with money would have a similar effect )

Thx for reply Gandalf, well customer's wishes... I will for sure create feature request but about the money /for your support/ I am afraid that my company have pretty strict rulles against such commitment. I personaly can spend 20€ for your time. Btw what about current reports after upgrade to "new" version, does Nectar have capabilities to preserve current?
Ps. if that matter we are running Cacti Version: 0.8.7g, Plugin Architecture Version: 2.9

Usually (aka unless stateted differently) plugins preserve data during upgrade. See the README for specific instructions.
This request might add some new field to handle intra-day scheduling, but that's it

Re: Nectar - send reports every hour
I've allocated some spare time (indeed, I was interested in how long this would take), and it's ready for testing now. Please send a request by EMail (find it underneath each of my posts) to receive the beta code for Nectar 0.36.
No db change required, btb. Straightforward upgrade from 0.35a.
Regarding 0.30 as a base, there IS an automatic db upgrade => best to save your database before upgrading
Regarding PIA: no specifics to pay attention to for this upgrade, aka: in case you have patched your code to work with Nectar, no changes are required for THIS upgrade (not sure for upgrade path 0.30 to 0.35a). Conclusion: it is always best to keep as current as possible - Cacti 087g is quite outdated these days.
Best is to try it on a copy of your currently running system

For an upgrade only, I never had an outage > 5min in the past.
In most cases, it works without any outage.
I already did a server and architecture change without any outage for > 90,000 data sources (well, the _work_ it tooks had to be measured in hours and days, but no outage!).
