Grabbing data from Cacti and putting into Splunk

Post by cschaft »

R said I could post this, so here it goes.

If you go to the site below, there is a Splunk App for Cacti. It explains how to use the PERL script (leveraging RRDTOOL) to pull data from RRDs and log it for Splunk Indexing. Splunk can then create graphs across several instances on several Cacti servers. It is also set up for monitoring logs across several Cacti servers. If you were thinking of getting rid of Cacti for a "fancy" tool, check this out first. This can be extended to do just about anything.
