Remote database and connect

Hi,
I want the following configuration:
computer with the cacti on one pc and the database on the second PC. What happens if there is non-availability of a computer with a database? Data will be stored in temporary memory, or I lose data?

If cacti cannot reach the database server then you won't be able to access the gui, nor will the poller be able to run or store data.
Everything is handled using the db, so there's no way to local cache it if your DB becomes unavailable.
