Hello,
I'm attempting to build a cacti server on ubuntu server 12.04, but for reasons outside my control, i'm having to build Cacti 0.8.7b. but chose to use cacti-spine-0.8.8 as the latest is probably the best, right? I'm not able to run apt-get install cacti-spine, as it overwrites the existing cacti installation also, so manual compile is the way to go, right?
yeah... having problems. I'm not sure where to start, so we'll go with the following:
i'm going off of the wondeful directions here: http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=43436 but skipping the nagios and webmin installs as i don't need them.
the database, cacti, webservers, etc all work fine, cacti, using cmd.php is working great. But i fail at installing spine.
i've run the bootstrap script, based on gandalf's posts in other "spine won't compile" threads, then attempted. a ./configure
config.log (config.log.gz) is attached. Right off, i'm getting errors with gcc -V >%5 failling. as the command is unknown. gcc -v works fine. Am i running a version of gcc that's too new?
I've spent quite a bit of time researching via google regarding the various errors in the config.log, some of which i've been able to identify and resolve by apt-get, others i can't seem to find information on. There is quite a bit of discussion regarding Debian's move to Multiarchetecture and how it's screwing up compiling software, but the detail is way beyond my experiences.
I admit upfront that i'm a unix newb, but i'm trying hard to be adept.
please let me know what information i can retrieve to provide more light into my environment.
