Plugin Installation [SOLVED!]

Post by Khue »

Hey everyone!

I am kind of new to Cacti and I am familiarizing myself with the system. I want to do some alerting and I was going to give thold a try. I was reading through some of the documentation and I can't quite figure out what's going on as the documentation doesn't seem to match what I am seeing. I am using Cacti 0.8.8a with PA v3.1. Referencing this page (http://docs.cacti.net/plugins.install; no bbcode for url?!) it seems like it's indicating that I need to do a file extraction to a folder that doesn't exist on my installation.

For thold, it appears that I need to also install and configure settings (the plugin). As I look through my file structure for cacti I notice I have a /var/data/cacti/plugins folder. Is it as simple as just extracting the thold and settings (the plugin) folder to the ../plugin Cacti folder?

Thanks in advance and I apologize if I have miss-posted or failed to search properly for an already existing forum post.

Yep,
Place the tarball into that plugins folder. tar -xvf it. Then remove the tarball file. Go into cacti PIA, and you'll see it listed there. Then you can follow the rest of the pictures in that documentation you referenced.

Dan, stop being so helpful. You're setting the bar too high for others. :D

Thanks much!

No problem :) I just try to browse when I have some extra time. I've been using Cacti on and off for the last 5 or 6 years, so gathered some experience along the way, and got help on the forums too.
