How Cacti Poller Building works

Post by mar1usc »

Hello,

I am very very curious how and what conditions must be met by data sources and graph to be included in Poller Cache.
I search the net for this and i could not find anything related to this matter.

My problem is as follows:

I have some graphs created by a custom template build upon "Internet - Traffic" named : "Internet - Traffic 1G"
I have some graphs that are generated ok others not.
I don't know how to make them work, and i don't know how to diagnosticate them.

The same things happen when:
If i take an old graph and template and move them from "Internet - Traffic" to the new "Internet - Traffic 1G" data source and graph (using Change Data Template and Change Graph Template action) the graph will not work anymore.
If i delete the graph and datasource and build it from scratch, it works fine.

I am using ubuntu 12.04 server with cacti 0.8.8a and 0.8.8a cacti-spine, RRDtool 1.4.7

Thanks!

BTW:
1. the poller does not take in consideration the modified graph.
2. if i create the rrd (with modified template) by hand it works (but does not update)
3. if i update the rrd (with modified template) manually, it works
4. if i run the poller by hand like "spine --verbose=5 <id> <id>" it does give the supposed results

anyone? any ideea ?
