Delete old data from mysql

Post by Arsenius »

Hi guys,

I have yust setup Cacti on my Centos server following this guide: www.cyberciti.biz/faq/fedora-rhel-insta ... -software/
So cacti is polling data from a few of my server and as i understand it this data is stored in the mysql database right?
I have been googeling for a way to delete data older then 2 months.
Couldnt find a setting for this in the cacti webinterface.

Is this possible?

cheers

If you are not using any plugins that really stores their data in MySQL (e.g. syslog, mactrack), there is no need to purge MySQL database, because Cacti uses it only for configuration data. Real data stored in round-robin database files in <cacti installation dir>/rrd folder. These files are round-robin archives - so newer data for a period is written over old data, and size of files is a constant. In the case of plugins - most of them have embedded features for database maintenance.
