Cisco monitoring

Post by PowerEdge »

Hi we have at our company a cisco switch 2950 wich we want to monitor from gathering traffic statistics.

The problem is that it doesnt matter what ill try i cant make graphs from the cisco.

What i did:

Added the device with hostname etc and template generic snmp host. And de data query shows also the 24 ports vlan and some other stuff. But whenever i want to create graphs it cant build the rrd files because of duplicatie values or something like that. I used the correct templates (i think)

Is there someone who made his cisco working with cacti. The program is perfect only i dont now how its works inc with the cisco switch.

Cisco and Cacti get along great. We have an installation monitoring 8 2950's among other things (another 60 or so switches) as well as servers and black box devices.

RRD Files not being created is a very common problem, if you search the board, you should be able to find some posts about it. Some common things to check are permissions in the directories, log outputs, make sure that the output from cmd.php is actually issuing the rrdtool -update commands.

i had a similar problem before i upgrade, there was a problem when creating graph, i had duplicated ds_name, so i created manually in the RRA directory the output datasource removing the duplicated ds_name, and it was working ... so it could be an alternative choice until it works correctly
