Wrong Interface Traffic for a Windows 7 machine

Hi there!

I have a Cacti server (0.8.7c) which I use to track some Virtual Machines I host on an ESXi server. I am placing below the Host Information (for the Cacti server)...

My issue is that I have completely wrong graphs for just one windows 7 machine. I have anabled of course SNMP service and I did all the configuration of this machines exactly as I have done one some other Windows Servers I am tracking. The strange thing with this is that Cacti shows a huge traffic (terabytes within a few weeks), which can't be true, as I know that the machine is almost idle. I have other windows servers that are not idle and the traffic that is graphed is just a few hundreds of megabytes. within a month!

What could be wrong with this particular machine and Cacti is graphing wrong traffic?

Possibly. What interface number/description is Cacti collecting?
What are the valid interfaces?
Are you using third party interface templates per chance?

First of all I am sorry for my delayed reply. I need some help, as I am not very experienced with Cacti. It is about a Virtual Machine running Windows 7 above an ESXi 5.0 Hypervisor. I am not even sure if I have done correctly all the configuration. What interface should I select for a Windows 7 Pro Virtual Machine running on an ESXi 5.0 Hypervisor?

Which ever one has a valid IP address The 'create graphs for this host' screen should show you all the interfaces for the OS and allow you to select the correct one(s).

2) you do realize cacti 0.8.8a is current, right?

Is there an easy way to upgrade, without needing to configure it or to setup Cacti from the beggining? It is important to keep it live, as it monitors several servers from my infrastructure and some are client's machines.

Actually I have installed the ready machine CactiEZ (http://cactiez.cactiusers.org/) and I am not sure if I could upgrade it with the way that you suggested me... Could I?

I've never used CactiEZ, but I don't see any reason why it would prevent you from upgrading.

Anyways back to the original question. Followed the debugging guide yet to track down the source of your problem?

Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately I did nothing. I probably need to assign that job (debugging and upgrading the Cacti Server), as I am not sure if I have the time and/or the necessary knowledge to do this. My knowledge on Linux administration is limited and I'm afraid that I will not be able to fix it in case that something goes wrong.

Do you know somebody that could undertake this job? I would pay a small amount for some help with my Cacti Server...
